Moving with your pets can be challenging. You worry about transportation, their safety, how they will adjust. Moving is stressful for people. Imagine how stressful it can be for your pet who doesn’t know what is going on.
As Palm City residential movers, we have been moving families and their pets for years. We have picked up a few tips to help make the process a little bit easier for you and your furry family member.
- Create a Safe Haven – Give your pet a safe place to hang out during moving day. Create a separate space where they can run around and play while the movers work. This keeps them safe and out of the way.
- Prepare them for Transportation – If your pet isn’t used to riding in cars, it is a good idea to introduce them to the car ahead of time. Be sure to transport them in a secure kennel or car seat. The last thing you need as the driver is a pet in your lap. Also, make frequent stops along the way so they can use the restroom and stretch their legs.
- Introduce Them Slowly – Try to confine them to one area of the house at a time. Fill that area with all of their toys, blankets, etc. This will enable them to get accustomed to a new location slowly rather than overwhelm them. Slowly, introduce them to more and more places in the house.
If you take these steps, your furry friend will be ruling the roost in no time and you will save yourself a lot of trauma.
